Heating Oil & Kerosene

Closely related to diesel fuel, home heating oil comes from crude oil. If your home runs on oil, then your system likely consists of an oil tank, filter, fuel pump, combustion chamber, and thermostat. When it’s time to fill up your oil tank, you need a reliable company with trained drivers and properly calibrated meters.

Heating Oil vs. Kerosene, What is the difference?

Even though both heating oil and kerosene are made from crude oil, there are distinct differences between the two. Kerosene is considered a lighting fuel  because it burns much hotter than heating oil. It is designed to be used in furnaces or equipment that can burn high temperatures.

Which One Should You Choose?

Choosing between kerosene or heating oil will usually come down to what type of tank it will be fueling. We recommend if the tank is inside of your property, then heating oil is the better solution. If it is outside of the property, then kerosene will be the better choice because it works better during a cold, Virginia night.
